Planning Your Visit
Hours & Timings
The Air Force Museum is open for education visits from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. All visits include unlimited time in the Museum. Start and finish times are flexible but we recommend a minimum visit of approximately 2 hours if participating in an Education Programme.
Cost
Most programmes are $6.50 per student. Prog 1 - $3 per student, Prog 7 - $12.50 per student. Minimal additional charges apply for extra activities (outlined below), and alternative prices may apply for unique programmes or small groups, subject to the Education Officer’s review. Accompanying adults are free of charge.
Additional Activity Charges:
Restoration and/or Storage Hangar Tour: $1 per student
Mosquito Simulator: $5 per 5 minutes
Kitset Gliders: $1.50 each
Pacific Room Simulator Experience: $1 per student
Morning Tea or Lunch
Indoor and outdoor eating areas are provided for visiting Education Groups. You can bring your own morning/afternoon tea and lunch to eat at the Air Force Museum, or food can be purchased in the Museum Café by prior arrangement - please advise us of your requirements at the time of booking.
Clothing and Bags
The Museum has the facility for storage of bags and jackets. It is recommended that children wear suitable warm clothing and footwear for moving about the Museum facilities, especially during winter.
Adult Supervision
Please ensure that adult helpers remain with the group throughout the visit, actively supervising and encouraging the students. Please note the required supervising adult ratio is:

Visit Us
All teachers are encouraged to visit the Museum beforehand to discuss and familiarise themselves with the programmes and facilities. This can be arranged by contacting the Education Officer on (03) 343 9517.
