Join us in building a forever home for New Zealand’s C-130 Hercules and P-3 Orion – icons of service.
For more than half a century, these legendary aircraft carried our nation’s courage across the world – in peace, crisis, and discovery.
Now, they need a home worthy of their legacy, where their stories of service, innovation and humanity will continue to inspire.

Home for Heroes
The Air Force Museum of New Zealand is developing a new purpose-built Exhibition Hall to house the retired C-130 Hercules and P-3 Orion aircraft. These two iconic aircraft represent more than a century of combined service in disaster relief, maritime safety, Antarctic operations, and international missions.
The new Exhibition Hall will provide a permanent home for these nationally significant taonga, protecting them for future generations while creating an inspiring and immersive visitor experience. This project ensures their stories of service, innovation, and resilience can be shared with veterans and their families, tamariki and rangatahi, and visitors from across Aotearoa and around the world.
The project is being developed in partnership with mana whenua to ensure Māori perspectives and stories of service are respectfully reflected within the Hall.
Home for Heroes is a national effort for national icons, and I’m proud to help lead it as a Trustee. This project will create a practical, sustainable exhibition hall where New Zealanders can experience the Hercules and Orion up close — and connect with the people, missions, and meaning behind them.
