International visitors aged 18 and over will be able to purchase tickets from our Welcome Desk or online.
International visitors aged under 18 years will be able to visit free of charge.

New Zealanders or people living in Aotearoa New Zealand

Entry to our museum is free for all New Zealanders and people living in Aotearoa New Zealand. It includes those living here on a Visa issued by Immigration New Zealand allowing you to work, study or live here.

Donations/koha

We welcome any donations. We are a not-for-profit trust, so everything you donate will go towards our mission of preserving and sharing the history of New Zealand aviation for commemoration, inspiration, learning and enjoyment. The proceeds from the entry charge also go towards this mission.

Who will be charged?

International visitors aged 18 years and over.

I am living in New Zealand on an Immigration New Zealand Visa do I have to pay?

No, if you are on a visa issued by Immigration New Zealand that allows you to study, work, or live in New Zealand, you can enter the museum for free. If you are here on a visitor visa, you will need to buy a ticket.

Will my family visiting from overseas need to pay?

Yes, if they are not New Zealanders and are aged 18 years or over, they will need to buy a ticket.

I am visiting from Tokelau/the Cook Islands/Niue/the Ross Dependency, do I have to pay?

No. You are a New Zealander, so entry is free.

I am a New Zealander living overseas, do I have to pay?

New Zealanders (citizens and permanent residents) who live overseas do not have to buy a ticket.

How do you decide who is an international visitor?

We will rely on people to self-identify.

How do international visitors pay?

At the Welcome Desk or online.

Do I need to show my ticket?

You may be asked to show your ticket if you have pre-purchased online, so please make sure you have it ready on your phone or printed out.

How will you decide who is a New Zealander?

We will rely on people to self-identify.

What do I need to bring as proof I live in New Zealand?

You do not have to prove you live in New Zealand or bring any evidence of this when you visit.

What is covered by the admission price?

The entry ticket covers general admission to the museum. Tours, hunts, Mosquito Mission require separate tickets.

How long is the ticket valid for?

The ticket is valid for 48 hours from the entry date printed on it and you can enter, leave, and re-enter as many times as you like within this period.

Where does the money go?

We are a not-for-profit trust, so everything you donate will go towards our mission of preserving and sharing the history of New Zealand aviation for commemoration, inspiration, learning and enjoyment.

I am an international visitor and I require a companion to support me on my museum visit, do they also have to pay?

If you require support during your museum visit, we offer a free ticket for a companion. This applies to adult ticket holders as well as international visitors under 18 years old, who receive free admission. No proof of support requirements is needed. Companion tickets are limited to one support person per visitor.
